Parents, are you looking for a children’s dentist who performs children’s dental exams in Temple, TX? At Canyon Creek Dentistry, we provide high-quality dental care for children of all ages. We believe it is never too early to start taking care of your child’s teeth, and we offer a wide range of services to meet your child’s needs.

One of the most critical services we offer is children’s dental exams. These exams are crucial in helping to prevent cavities and other dental problems. We recommend that children have a dental exam at least once a year and more frequently if they are at high risk for cavities or other dental issues.

Why Bi-Yearly Dental Exams are So Important For Your Children

As a parent, you want what is best for your children. You ensure they eat their vegetables, do their homework, and go to bed on time. But how often do you think about their teeth? You brush them daily (or at least you should), but is that enough? Like the rest of their bodies, your children’s teeth need regular checkups and cleaning to stay healthy. We recommend that all our patients come in for a bi-yearly dental exam. Here’s why these exams are so important.

1. We Can Catch Issues Early

One of the most important reasons to bring your child in for regular dental exams is so that we can catch any issues early. Decay, cavities, and other problems with their teeth can start small but, if left untreated, can turn into much bigger problems down the road. By coming in for regular exams, we can catch these issues early and treat them before they become significant problems. Not only will this save your child from potential pain later on, but it will also save you money in the long run.

2. We Can Help Them Develop Good oral Habits

Another reason bi-yearly dental exams are essential for your children is that we can help them develop good oral habits from a young age. We can show them how to brush properly, floss correctly, and take care of their teeth so that they stay healthy as they grow up. And the sooner they develop good oral habits, the better! By coming in for regular exams, we can help your child develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

3. We Can Put Your Mind At Ease

As a parent, it’s natural to worry about your children’s health—including their dental health. But by bringing them in for regular dental exams, you can put your mind at ease knowing that their teeth are well taken care of. We will work with you to ensure that your child’s teeth are healthy and strong, and we will let you know if there are any concerns. So if you’re looking for peace of mind regarding your child’s dental health, bi-yearly dental exams are a great way to get it!

Best Emergency Dentist in Temple, TX

Do you have a dental emergency in Temple, Texas? Have you ever had one, or do you know what you would do if you did? At Canyon Creek Dentistry, we provide emergency dentistry services, so you don’t have to worry about getting the emergency treatment you need when you need it.

We know how painful a toothache can be and how sometimes you can’t wait for relief. If the pain is unbearable, we guarantee to see you the day you call during office hours. We can also talk you through the help you need over the phone in some cases.

What is a Dental Emergency?

If you have an emergency, don’t wait. Call us as soon as possible. If you doubt whether or not your pain constitutes an emergency, you shouldn’t take chances. Especially when it comes to your health, it’s best to err on the side of caution. If you’re experiencing a significant health issue, it’s always best to call 911 first.

Even if you believe your dental problem is minor, it’s best to have a dentist take a look. Dr. Kinnari Prajapati can spot dental issues from minor to major. She can diagnose dental problems you may not have been aware of.

We consider it a dental emergency if it is causing you or your child unbearable pain or:

  • Interfering with your ability to eat.
  • Interfering with your ability to speak.
  • Preventing you from functioning normally.

Dental Emergency Causes

Many things can cause a dental emergency. At Canyon Creek Dentistry, we believe in a preventative dentistry approach, including protecting your teeth. If your child plays sports, it’s best to have them wear a mouthguard. A mouthguard protects the teeth from sudden and unexpected impacts and can be purchased at major sporting goods stores or can be custom-designed to fit your mouth. If you practice proper dental hygiene techniques, the chances are good that you’ll never suffer severe tooth decay. You should brush and floss at least twice daily and come in about twice per year for professional dental checkups and cleanings.

But of course, no matter how well you try to prevent dental emergencies, no matter how well you take care of your teeth, an accident could happen to anyone at any time.

You might be surprised by the types of things that can cause a dental emergency. Many people break or crack a tooth while biting into something, for example, ice, hard candies, or even packaging while they’re trying to open it. Many things can break a tooth, but getting treatment within an hour of the injury is often critical.

What Can I Do Until I Receive Emergency Treatment?

Until you receive emergency dental treatment in our Temple dental office, there are some things you can do to help save a broken tooth:

  • Keep any tooth pieces that have broken off, as we may be able to re-attach them.
  • Even if your tooth is just cracked, seek emergency dental care. Cracks in the tooth structure can allow bacteria to enter the tooth and infection to spread.
  • If the entire tooth comes out, try to gently place it back in the socket and keep it there until you get emergency treatment. If it’s dirty, rinse it first with cool water. Try not to touch the root area as it contains delicate, sensitive tissues.
  • If you can’t get a displaced tooth back into the socket, place it in a plastic baggie or cup of cool milk and seek emergency treatment.

Tooth decay is another common dental emergency cause. You can take over-the-counter pain-reliever and anti-inflammatory medication until you receive emergency care.

If you have bleeding or swollen gums, it may signify an infection. In this case, the best thing to do is seek emergency care as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading.
